WE BELIEVE
WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD
He is the one true living God and Eternal King. He is an infinite, unchangeable Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, goodness, justice, power and love. He exists eternally in three persons, coequal and coeternal – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory. We worship Him in the Trinity and the Trinity in unity. He is boundless, uncreated and omnipotent.
WE BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER
God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. He is made of none, being neither created nor begotten. He is the Father of glory, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He is a Father to all who place their faith in Jesus Christ. He is perfect in power, love, goodness, holiness, justice, and truth. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. His nature is generous, delighting in giving His Kingdom to His children. He has demonstrated His love for us through giving His Son as provision for our sins and relationship with Himself.
WE BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST
Jesus is the only Son of the Father, eternally begotten not made. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He is God incarnate, fully God and fully man. He is the one true Lord. He is the way, truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. He is the Christ – God’s Anointed One.
Jesus is the Word of God. He is the ultimate expression and self-revelation of the Father. He revealed the mind, will and heart of the Father. In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He is the exact representation of the Father’s nature. Through Him all things were made and without Him nothing was made that was made. All things are upheld and sustained by the power of His word.
Jesus came in the likeness of man and lived a sinless life. He humbled Himself and offered Himself to God as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. He suffered crucifixion and with His blood obtained for us redemption, the forgiveness of sins, reconciliation, everlasting life and access to God. He died on the cross and was buried. On the third day, He was resurrected and ascended to the right hand of the Father.
WE BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead. He is fully God with personal attributes including intellect, will and emotion. He is the giver and sustainer of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son. He is the Promise of the Father – the Spirit of God poured out on and for all humankind. The Holy Spirit indwells those who believe in Jesus. The indwelling Spirit is the seal of our salvation and the guarantee of our eternal redemption and inheritance. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is poured out that God’s people might be empowered to proclaim the good news of the Kingdom and do the works of Jesus. This filling of the Holy Spirit is often a conscious experience. The Holy Spirit is our abiding Helper, Teacher, and Guide. He is the Spirit of truth, wisdom and revelation. He reveals God and the will of God. He is the Spirit of Adoption pouring out the love of God and enabling God’s children to experience intimacy with the Father. He glorifies the person of Jesus and enables true worship. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, justifies, sanctifies and conforms us into the image of Christ. He produces spiritual growth, empowering us to obey God’s commandments and enjoy new covenant relation with God. He releases fruitfulness and imparts spiritual gifts as described in the Scriptures. The fruits are indicative of the indwelling of the Spirit. The ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit are operative today to strengthen God’s people, testify of the Kingdom of God and edify God’s people to fulfill their heavenly calling and mission. We practice the laying on of hands for the empowering of the Spirit, for healing, and for recognition and empowering of those whom God has ordained to lead and serve the Church.
WE BELIEVE IN THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD’S KINGDOM
Jesus is the great eternal King over all. He was anointed and empowered by the Holy Spirit, inaugurating God's kingdom reign on earth. His rule and reign is everlasting and unshakable. His domain is ever increasing and He has supremacy over all. Jesus advances God's reign throughout every generation and throughout the whole earth today. His reign is a government of love. Righteousness and justice are the foundations of His throne. From His throne, He intervenes in our lives bringing light to dark places and upholds and governs all that exists: the heavenly places, the angelic hosts, the universe, the earth, every living thing and mankind.
The Kingdom has come, is coming immediately and will come. The Kingdom of God has come in the ministry of Jesus. It continues to come through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The Church advances the Kingdom doing the works of Jesus. The Kingdom will be consummated in the glorious, visible and triumphant appearing of Christ at His return.
The Kingdom of God is in direct conflict with the kingdom of darkness. The devil was originally a great angel serving before God. He rebelled, taking many angels with him. He was cast out of God's presence and is at work with his demonic hosts to establish his counter-kingdom of darkness and evil on the earth. Jesus has dominion over this defeated kingdom.
WE BELIEVE IN SALVATION BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE
God created us to know and enjoy Him. Although the consequence of our imperfect and sinful nature is separation from God and death, God gives the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. While still sinners, God demonstrated His love toward us by giving us Jesus.
Good works are not required nor are they accepted as the basis for our salvation. Through God’s grace, His unmerited favor and enabling power, we are saved through faith in Christ. It is the gift of God. To as many as receive Him and believe in His name, God gives the right to be adopted into His family as His own children. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. If we confess with our mouths the Lord Jesus and believe in our hearts that God has raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. It is through this faith that God inhabits us by His Holy Spirit.
WE BELIEVE IN THE SCRIPTURES
Scripture is a letter from the heart of God inviting humanity into relationship with Him. Scripture is inspired by God and a primary way He speaks to us and cultivates the knowledge of God. Scripture has power to transform individuals and nations. It is a light to our path and a cleansing stream of truth, working fruitfulness, righteousness and holiness in our lives. The Bible is God’s written revelation for humankind and is wholly authoritative for our faith and practice.
WE BELIEVE IN ONE HOLY CHURCH
The church is Christ’s holy temple not made with hands, His beloved bride and the body of Christ. The Church is comprised of all who put their faith in Jesus. If anyone receives Christ’s gift of salvation through believing in His Sacrifice and receiving Him as Lord, they are spiritually brought into the fellowship of the Church, of which Christ is the Head and all believers are its members.
Jesus has made all believers kings and priests to actively carry on His ministry and advance His kingdom by doing the works of Jesus through preaching the gospel of the kingdom, walking in God’s love, obeying His commandments, undoing the works of the devil, and remembering the poor. We are to disciple the nations, baptizing and teaching them to love and obey God. Women, no less than men, are called to this ministry and gifted to proclaim the gospel and do all the works of the kingdom. To equip the church for this ministry, God has given apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers.
The end-time church will reflect the beauty of her bridegroom in unprecedented love, unity, purity and power. She will have a declaration of the good news of the kingdom, which will be preached in the whole world before the return of Christ. Many will respond to this declaration culminating in a great harvest.
WE BELIEVE IN THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
Jesus is returning for His church, as a bride prepared for her bridegroom. He is coming again in the same manner as He ascended into heaven and every eye will see Him. We are to be patient for His coming, as no one knows the hour. Being filled with the Holy Spirit, we are to watch and pray. We are to do what we see our heavenly Father doing.
Jesus is coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. After He returns, He will bring about the resurrection of the dead, the final Judgment and the eternal blessing of the righteous. The final judgment will include execution of God’s judgment against the devil, the hosts of darkness and their works as these has already been judged and defeated at the cross of Christ. Jesus will judge the living and the dead, each giving an account of their own deeds. He will separate the elect from those who have refused His saving grace. The elect will inherit everlasting life in heaven. The wicked will be banished from God’s presence into everlasting death in hell, a real place, originally prepared for the devil and his angels. Finally, God will be all in all and His kingdom will be fulfilled in the new heavens and the new earth, recreated by His mighty power, in which righteousness dwells and in which He will forever be worshipped.
WE BELIEVE IN THE ORDINANCES OF WATER BAPTISM AND COMMUNION
Jesus gave the ordinances of water baptism and communion to the Church to be observed until His return. These ordinances are not a means of salvation, but are our identification with the person of Christ and are an avenue for healing, sanctification, transformation and blessing. Both of these ordinances are available to all believers.
